It is hard to find a hobby that really suits you. Once you start looking, it feels like a rabbit hole. You will see choices like painting, cooking, learning an instrument, or even a new language. Reading is one of them, too.
Books feel like portals . When you sit with one, you are suddenly in another place. You could be walking through a city that does not exist or living in a world that follows rules completely different from ours. And when you come back, you carry those worlds with you. Virginia Woolf once said, “Books are the mirrors of the soul,” and I believe that. Every story I read shows me something about myself. When I was younger, I read a lot without even calling it a hobby. Later, I realize that it was shaping me. It helped me with English in school, but more than that, it made me curious about life. Sometimes I get so busy with schoolwork and the organization's I joined that I barely have time for books, but I still try to make room for them. Reading is a habit I do not want to lose. Maya Angelou once said, “Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” I think this is true for me because even if I cannot read as much as before, I always come back to it.
Recently, I read Better Than the Movies, and it quickly became one of my new favorite's. It reminded me that books can be lighthearted and fun while still making an impact. For me, books are the best hobby. Other hobbies are good too, but nothing feels like walking into a bookshop or a library and seeing shelves full of stories waiting for you . Even if I only take home one, it feels like I have gained something important.
