Finding Peace in Poetry: Poem Writing, By Blanco, R.
Before I knew it, I started to subconsciously bottle up my emotions as a way of coping into not needing to express myself with other people, forgetting how to communicate them properly and letting everything swallow me whole.
But then it sparked to me, I realize that I didn't need to share it directly to other people, where poetry was then introduced into my life.
Writing poems has become a huge part of my mental health, in a way of turning my emotions into words, whether I’m happy, sad, or just emotionally drained. It helped me release those emotions and lead me to clear my mind. I first discovered this passion in Grade 9 when I joined journalism, specifically photojournalism, and started reading more books, which inspired me more into writing. Since then, poetry has given me hope by helping me process my feelings while improving my creativity and writing skills whenever I'm in the mood for it. To put the history of poetry in a simple sense, poetry itself is fascinating, has been for centuries as a way for people to express thoughts, beliefs, and emotions in creative ways. For me, it’s not just an art form—it’s also a personal outlet.
Through my poems, I can tell my story in ways that are unique and meaningful to me. And as part of my hobby, I also include pictures from Pinterest that connect with my poems.
I slowly started to share some of them with people close to me, though I prefer not to post them online but I don't mind sending them to trusted people as motivational words or to connect from one friend to another. In the future, I hope to continue writing and maybe even compile my works into a collection or book to share with other poem enthusiasts.
